• Leisure activities in the Quincy Recreation Department will help promote the physical health and social development of participants through exposure to high ideals and standards of fair play.

• Program opportunities will provide a wide range of choice by both participant ability and program offerings. Quincy residents shall be involved in the planning and development of their recreational opportunities. These activities will be consistent with the needs, interests and abilities of all residents without discrimination.

• Leisure activities will be offered for families and individuals and shall be flexible in scheduling, mindful of our various neighborhoods, and considerate of the financial resources of our citizens.

• Activities will be planned to fully utilize our available community resources and facilities. The Quincy Recreation Department seeks cooperation between existing city agencies, private agencies and voluntary providers that also offer similar services to Quincy residents.

We strive to teach the young athletes how to work together towards a common goal, support each other through teamwork and camaraderie, and build confidence and strength. We focus on building character, self-confidence, teaching responsibility, athletic skills, and positivity in a competitive environment while gaining a strong sense of community. Our cheerleaders learn that time, effort, physical training, attendance and participation in practice makes the team strong and well-prepared. Mastering the skills required to succeed instills pride, self-respect, the will to win, and the courage to accept defeat when necessary. All this occurs with a constant emphasis on sportsmanship.
